Senior Citizen Exercise Program…..

Should the Elderly Exercise.....I think we would all agree; that regular exercise is good for our general heath.

No matter your age, regular exercise fosters a healthy lifestyle.

As we get older, exercise helps us to better deal with any of our health issues that may arrive.

A strong body will also allow seniors to maintain an independent lifestyle. As we age, senior citizen exercise programs become even more important for the overall continued or improved health concerns as reported by the Surgeon General:

Helps maintain the ability to live independently and reduces the risk of falling and fracturing bones.

  •   Reduces the risk of dying from coronary heart disease and of developing high blood pressure, colon cancer, and diabetes.
  •   Can help reduce blood pressure in some people with hypertension.
  •   Helps people with chronic, disabling conditions improve their stamina and muscle strength.
  •   Reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression and fosters improvements in mood and feelings of well-being.
  •   Helps maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints.
  •   Helps control joint swelling and pain associated with arthritis.

I can tell you that I have benefited with strength as well as aerobic exercises. I noticeably have additional energy as well as increased strength to assist with all forms of mobility. I definitely feel better both mentally and physically.

The Best Senior Citizen Exercise Program…..

Low Impact Aerobics Activities: swimming, walking, bicycling, and dancing gardening, and light housekeeping.

Strength Exercises make our daily living tasks much easier to perform; climbing  stairs, bending over to tie shoe laces or lifting objects for example. The stronger our muscles the easier it is for us to deal with our activities.

How much fun do we have just playing with our grandchildren? Simply raise any object for a bicep curl  or lean on a wall for a push up.

Balance Exercises help us to possibly prevent an accident due to falling and suffering from the consequences of that injury.

Improve the strength of our lower body and we will help avoid injury. At home you can do back and front leg raises, stand on toes, or just sit in a chair and straighten your legs and perhaps a few swats.

Stretching Exercising is great for improving flexibility.

Make sure you do these senior citizens exercising programs at least three times a week for at least 45 minutes.

You will see a hugh difference in how you feel mentally, physically and emotionally with a more positive attitude for life.
